Chancelry staff outside the Administrative Buildings, 1955
To date, research using the University Archives has focused mainly on the foundation and early development of the ANU in the 1940s and 1950s, its physical environment and the relationship between the ANU and the Commonwealth Government over time. The collections of the Archives have been used for research for biographies, histories of academic disciplines, institutional histories, the history of higher education in Australia, the history of Canberra, architectural projects and television documentaries.
If you think the University Archives may hold archival material relating to your research topic, we would be interested in hearing from you. We can refer you to other archival or research institutions if the University Archives does not hold relevant records or they are located elsewhere.
