Managing ANU records
Most ANU staff create and manage records, whether electronic or paper, on a daily
basis.
The Archives
Act 1983, which covers Commonwealth government records, also applies to the records
of The Australian National University. The University is developing policies and
procedures for these records to ensure that it complies with the requirements of
the Act and with other guidelines issued by the National Archives of Australia.
In addition, through consultation with the National Archives of Australia and
various sections of the University, the Manager, University
Records and the University Archivist, are currently developing a Records Disposal
Authority which will be specific to the functions and needs of the University.
To find out more about University policy regarding official University records
and archives see the ANU Records
and Archives Management Policy 1999 and the Records
Management Manual on the University Records web site. That site also describes
the services offered by University Records.
