There may be some delay with the larger sizes (A2 to A0).
In cases when photocopying needs to be posted, standard Australia Post charges will apply. Express Post service
is available on request.
Payment
Payment may be made by cash, cheque or credit card on the completion of the quote/payment form (available in
the reading room). For orders costing more than $50, an ANU tax invoice will be issued. Tax receipts for all orders
are available on request.
Photocopying request slips
Each item to be copied must be accompanied by a photocopying request slip (available on the reading room tables).
When completing the slip it is important to note:
| Location Number |
eg N46/565 or Z109/Box 6 (for NBAC)
or 2000/28 Box 1 (for University Archives) |
| Pages |
Page numbers or other identifying features of the material to be copied (including how many pages) |
| Deposit Name |
eg Waterside Workers Federation of Australia (for NBAC) or Board of Graduate Studies (for University Archives) |
| Requested By |
Name of person requesting photocopying |
Once completed, the slip should be attached to the required page(s) with a plastic paperclip.
In the absence of correctly completed photocopying slips, no copying will be done. The information on the slips
will help you cite and identify the documents you have copied so please fill them in carefully.
Limits on amount of photocopying
Photocopies are made for the convenience of the individual in order to facilitate research.
Each researcher is limited to 200 pages per month. Photocopying orders of over 1,000 pages will therefore
take 5 months, and will attract an increased charge of 50¢ per A4 page. The Archives reserves the right to
limit the number of copies made for any patron.
Only limited copying of entire items (e.g. minute books or files) will be undertaken. Copying will depend on
the condition of the item, our obligations to the depositor and any copyright considerations. If such copying is
required, please consult the Senior Archivist, NBAC, or the University Archivist.
The Archives cannot guarantee immediate photocopying. We will, however, endeavour to provide a prompt service.
Access Agreement
NBAC patrons are asked to take particular note of Clause 6 of the Access
Agreement. By signing this agreement you have agreed not to pass to a third
party any photocopies or notes derived from the records, and not to place such
copies in a library or archives.
Interested friends or colleagues should be directed to the Centre, where they will be given the same level of
assistance as all our clients, rather than receiving only partial evidence. You are, of course, free to give them
other help, such as lists of citations which will certainly assist them if they use the records on-site.
Restrictions
The Archives reserves the right to refuse to copy any material where damage may result to the original item,
or where copying may contravene copyright laws or agreements with depositors.
The following items from the collections of the Noel Butlin Archives Centre may NOT be copied:
Australian Workers Union
Deposits E154, E158, E161, E161A, N117, P33, P50, P52, M50, M44, M45, M46 M51, M47 and M49.
The Union has stated that no records from this collection may be photocopied, except printed material.
Australian Agricultural Company
Despatches 1824-1854 (78/1/1 - 78/1/21).
The original despatches cannot be photocopied. However, they have now been placed on microfiche from which copies
can be made.
Large items
Any item that is larger than the glass plate on the photocopier (A3) cannot be copied in-house. Copies of larger
items may be undertaken by arrangement. Some items are simply too large or bulky to photocopy. In these cases,
photographic reproductions may be possible (see our Photographic Services Fact Sheet).
Presscopy letter books
Owing to their fragility, no copying can be done from presscopy letterbooks.
Items marked # or ##
Any items marked # or ## are considered fragile and consequently cannot be
photocopied. It may be possible to arrange a photographic print of the relevant
page (see our Photographic Services Fact Sheet).
