Launch of the ANU Archives Program website

JANUARY 2002

Transfer of the Maritime Dispute Archives to the Noel Butlin Archives Centre. This project was initiated by the Australian Society for the Study of Labour History (ASSLH) and the Australian Council of Trade Unions to ensure the preservation of records relating to the 1998 maritime dispute.

FEBRUARY 2002

Launch of the Australian Trade Union Archives website. This joint project of the ANU Archives Program and the University of Melbourne Archives is based on Parties to the Award (published by the Noel Butlin Archives Centre) and provides a specialist access point for researchers of Australian labour history. Included is a guide to trade unions, employer bodies and respective peak organisations, and information on archival resources, administrative histories and relevant publications.

National Library of Australia: Treasures from the Great Libraries until 24 February. Libraries such as the British Library, the National Library of China, the Library of Congress and the Jewish National University and Library have lent some of their most precious items and objects to join those in the NLA to bring together the wonders of human culture, endeavour and learning.
